About Mike

I’m a NASM certified personal trainer and have been helping people reach their goals and live a healthier life for 13 years. I’ve trained semi-pro and collegiate athletes preparing for their respective sports, type A business executives, helped multiple clients lose over 100lbs each, and trained pre and post-partum women, mid-life clients, and post-op individuals. My main focus when working with clients is to instruct exercises clearly and concisely with great attention to proper technique to ensure safety and progress throughout the session. I recently relocated to Nashville from New York City, where I worked as an independent personal trainer and musician. I studied Sport Management (with an emphasis on Exercise Science) at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, where I was a 4yr starter and captain on the Football team and sprinter on the Track and Field team. My training sessions with clients are always tailored to the specific goals that we’re trying to achieve and encompass a variety of exercises to create balance, total body strength, flexibility, and power, all while having fun and keeping sessions interesting and upbeat. First and foremost, I always prioritize safety and proper technique, and I will never ask a client to complete an exercise I cannot do myself. I believe that everyone has the ability to achieve their health goals and I’m really grateful to be able to guide people on their fitness journey.

My favorite client story

It is really gratifying helping client’s change their lives. Whether it was helping multiple clients lose 100+lbs or prepare for an Ultra Race in The Sahara Desert; it’s amazing to see people accomplish their goals.

That said, my favorite client story would have to be about my friend Lance who started training with me after having an appendectomy. He had major complications, was septic, nearly died and was bedridden for over a month. When we started working together he couldn’t lift a standard 45lb barbell. He loved the idea of power lifting and really wanted to start, so we began with the fundamentals of weight training and slowly worked up to heavy power lifting movements. Over the course of training together for 10+yrs Lance increased his deadlift to 405lbs, his barbell squat to 315lbs, and his bench press to 250lbs - he’s 5’5”, 160lbs. He’s now fully capable and confident to go to the gym and lift heavy weight with the proper technique, safely and effectively, and has made the best comeback any coach could ask for.

My training philosophy

My training philosophy is to work hard and intense but with strict attention on proper technique and the correct exercise progression to ensure safety. My
methodology is a hybrid of traditional and progressive movements with calculated programming and exercise selection. The focus is on intensity within the set/timeframe/exercise at hand, opposed to trying to create the “flashiest” exercise or combination to gain attention. All training sessions are always catered toward the client’s goals. There isn’t any “universal workouts” I give to everyone or random programming.
