About Masahiro (Masa)

"I want to maintain my health to travel, play with grandchildren, or simply stay healthy and be independent as long as I can." I teach/consult exercise and wellness for people to maintain/improve their health and prevent injuries (like falls). I have a doctoral degree in Kinesiology and conduct research on individuals with physical disabilities (my primary work). A training session is tailored to my client's goals. You can request any aspects of health that you want to improve, including a fitness program, home assessment of fall risks, general assessment (aerobic, strength, balance, and coordination capacities), nutrition advice, overall fitness, personal training, or a combination of some or all. I can either visit homes or have virtual sessions. Let's become the best of you!

My favorite exercise

There is no single exercise that works and is needed for everyone. But squat/deadlift is always a good choice.

My training philosophy

What works best for that person is the best training.

My training experience

In my early career, I taught strength (lifting) and conditioning (sprinting/jumping/plyometric) to high-school athletes (T&F, soccer, softball) and college athletes (football). More recently, my clients shifted more toward older adults with a history of falls and clinical populations as my research (my primary job is a research scientist) shifted to motor control in these populations. I have had experience working with people with strokes, Parkinson's Disease, and peripheral neuropathy. I also taught elementary/middle school athletes.
