About Amber

Fitness and nutrition have been lifelong interests and passions of mine, starting with my own personal health. I love improving people’s lives, with both physical and mental health. I love helping others attain their fitness goals, by encouraging them to push themselves to the point they never thought was possible. I dedicate myself to each session ensuring my client’s needs are being met, by modifying exercise routines to fit their needs and abilities. I understand every person’s body is different, so I determine the best exercises for their success, without fear of injury. Most of my programs are centered around Corrective Exercise techniques, focusing on creating balance throughout the body, to reduce injury from daily activities, and help them live a happier, healthier life.

My favorite client story

When I first started training a client with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hypermobile) she relied on support braces for her ankles, wrists, knees, and pelvis to keep her joints stable. Within a few months she gradually came in with fewer braces and less pain. Now she no longer uses the braces. By strengthening and lengthening the proper muscles her joints are more stable and she is in less pain.

My favorite exercise

Quadruped Opposite Arm Opposite Leg Raise (bird dog). This exercise works the core, glutes, back, and shoulders, while working on balance. And there are so many different variations!

My favorite quote

Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live. -Jim Rohn

My training philosophy

Goals are individual, not universal. Just because someone can run faster, lift heavier, go longer, doesn't mean your effort isn't good enough. Work hard for you and your goals. Progress will come.

My training experience

I attained my initial Personal Training Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) in 2014. I have trained clients part-time over the past 10 years in various environments, including; their home (using equipment I bring and/or equipment they have), virtual, my home gym (locations where I've had one), and gyms. My client's age ranges have been from 8 yo to 84 yo. My training style is focused on corrective exercise, correcting muscle imbalances found in the assessments by lengthening short muscles and strengthening weak/underactive muscles, while improving body awareness.

Training Areas Served

Amber is a very professional, funny and genuine person. She is highly knowledgeable about proper exercise, nutrition, and muscle rehabilitation. I came to her after being referred by my spine doctor, due to a bulging L4 and protruding L5 disc. My spine doctor told me that the only thing that would help my spine was to strengthen my core muscles, and she was right, after working with Amber for three months most of the spine issues have disappeared. I have also noticed some additional perks such as I am able to wear a summer dress without worrying about jiggling all over the place or wearing Spanks like body armor. My arms are getting firmer and I am not so self-conscious when I wear a sleeveless top. I am able to wipe my bum properly, tendonitis and frozen shoulder made this difficult, and I have noticed that my upper waist doesn’t rub against my lower waist anymore. I am also able to hold my bladder until I am sitting on the toilet. I thoroughly enjoy working with Amber and I highly recommend her as a personal trainer.
